REPUBLICANS

Who Are Republicans?

Our Beliefs...

Our beliefs are our heart.  The Party from the beginning believes in freedom for all individuals.

...at the NATIONAL level

Every four years the Republican National Committee (RNC), which consists of three party members from each state, holds a convention to determine the Party Platform.

Due to Covid restrictions the 2020 convention adopted the 2016 Platform in its entirety.  It is an excellent document worthy of a full read, but click below for a brief description.

MISSION STATEMENT: The Republican Party of Florida will promote the principles upon which our nation and our state were founded: freedom, liberty, personal responsibility, and accountability. We will advocate fiscally-sound, common-sense solutions that will promote job and economic growth, provide the best education to our children, and create a path to prosperity for Florida and America.

...at the LOCAL level

The local Republican Party in Florida is managed by each county’s Republican Executive Committee (REC).  Each county runs its REC a bit differently.  To learn more about Putnam County REC’s mission and beliefs, click below.

Our Stand...

Our minds must translate our heart’s beliefs into policy positions when addressing the problems we face today.

...at the NATIONAL level

The Republican Party Platform‘s stand on the major issues confronting this country are many and diametrically opposed to the stand of the Democrat Party.

A shortened (but still lengthy) list of the Party’s national policy positions with a brief explanation of each can be found by clicking on the button below.

We are asking users of the website who are registered Putnam County voters to take a survey to identify what national level issues they feel are most important.  To take it, click here.

The Republican Party of Florida (RPOC) does not have a list of policy positions independent of the Republican National Committee (RNC).  Many issues are similar to national issues but the order of importance is unique to Florida.

We are asking users of the website who are registered Putnam County voters to take a survey to identify what state level issues they feel are most important.

The survey uses direct quotes from the Republican Party Platform, including only those issues that the U.S. Constitution leaves to the states.

Local issues are many, varied, and highly specific.  Some residents learn of issues through a local newspaper, if there is one, but many learn of them only when impacted by them.

Our Actions...

If the Republican Party is to “walk the talk” it must convince a greater number of voters of its sincerity and strength of purpose.  The actions proposed by its platform MUST be converted into reality by ALL its elected officials.

...at the NATIONAL level

What the Republican Party believes in its heart, and stands for with its brain, has not often translated into actions by its elected officials in recent decades.

This is mostly due to its minority status in Congress from the 1930s to the 90s, then barely a majority after that.  Compromise with Democrats seemed a necessity if anything was to get accomplished.

This was also due to rogue actions by a few elected Republicans who were able to block Party efforts by voting with a Democrat minority.

It was not always so and shall not always be.

The Republican Party of Florida (RPOC) does not have an action plan independent of the Republican National Committee (RNC).

To take its place we are asking users of the website who are registered Putnam County voters to take a survey to identify what state level actions (in line with Republican values) they would like to see implemented in the upcoming election cycle.

The Republican Party has held a trifecta in state government (governor, majority of both houses are Republicans) by narrow margins for 20 years.  During that time state government has been remarkably fiscally responsible, yet the power, size, and cost of state government has grown while we profess limited government ideals.

Our Elected Officials...

Putnam County is a red county.  Florida is a red state.  Let’s keep it that way.      Vigilance!

...at the NATIONAL level

We are fortunate in Putnam County to be represented by strongly conservative elected officials in Congress.  However, Governor DeSantis has pushed for some changes in the Congressional Districts which has changed who represents us.  Visit the Candidates Section below to find out more.

We are fortunate to have all but one state elected partisan office in Republican hands.  Our Governor is a shining example of conservative beliefs and actions. Our Republican legislators have helped to make this state financially successful in trying times.  Click on the button below for a description of each current representative.

Our non partisan judges are more problematic.  Read more about them!

...at the LOCAL level

We are very fortunate to have ALL county elected partisan offices in Republican hands.  This is a recent development, and although many residents have switched from blue or white to red on their registration card, not all have accepted the principle of limited government in their heart or stand behind it with their actions.
